Across Europe from Ireland to Turkey and north as far as Germany and the Low Countries. Scrub, woodland and dry grassland. Usually on calcareous soils. Similar to P. bifolia but with larger flowers and the anthers are not parallel, but diverge. Top photograph: Northern Ireland 1958. |
