Orchis purpurea

Lady orchid; Orchis casque; Purpur-knabenkraut; Orchide purpureo

Very widespread; from England to Turkey and the Caucasus and northwards as far as Denmark, Germany and Poland; N. Africa.

A tall species of grasslands, scrub and woodland; mainly on limestone
