Orchis italica

Italian orchid; Orchis ondulé; Italienisches Knabenkraut; Orchide Italiano

Widespread throughout Europe, except the far north, but declining.

Similar to the Monkey orchid, O.simia but generally paler; the flowers resemble a male human figure in shape - hence an alternative Italian name 'Uomo nudo'.
