From S Greece (incl Attica) eastwards through Rhodes, Cyprus and W Turkey to the Levant. Closely related to Ophrys umbilicata and perhaps best regarded as a local subspecies of the O. umbilicata aggregate, which is itself closely related to O. scolopax. It differs from o. umbilicata proper in having green (not pinkish) sepals. Fairly frequent within its range in garigue, coarse grass, light woodland. |
