Circumpolar distribution:- across northern Europe from Ireland eastwards and scattered through Asia and North America. A tiny plant of wet sphagnum bogs; generally rare but also easily overlooked. The whole plant, including the flowers, is of the same uniform green colour. The oval leaves at the base produce small bulbils by which the plant can reproduce vegetatively - a feature which makes the bog orchid unique among European orchids.
