Gennaria diphylla

Two-leaved gennaria; Grünstendel; Gennarie

A rather rare and local species, found in Portugal, southern Spain, Balearic Islands, Corsica, Sardinia and north Africa.

This orchid grows up to about 30 cm in height. It is easily recognised by the two heart-shaped leaves on opposite sides of the stem and the small green flowers. A local species of broad-leaved evergreen woods, pine woods, garigue and maquis,
