Absent from Europe; in W Asia in Anatolia, Cyprus, Levant eastwards to Iran.

A tall and robust species reaching 1 m in height and with large narrow leaves. Rare and local in the area of its distribution. Found on stream banks, in ravines, and on cliffs with water seepage. Ascending to 2000 m altitude.
