Scotland and Ireland The photograph is of a specimen growing on the Garron Plateau, Co Antrim, N. Ireland. The exact identity and status of these Irish and British plants is uncertain. D. lapponica is a Scandinavian species allied to D. traunsteineri. The Irish and Scottish plant is perhaps of independent origin, and is closely allied to D. traunsteinerioides, perhaps merely a subspecies or variety of it. Many orchid taxonomists now consider that D. traunsteineri in the strict sense is not present in Great Britain or Ireland. Photograph: Garron Plateau, N Ireland.
