Summary of site:

Mad Pot is developed in the cherty beds of the Dartry Limestone and changes character once it penetrates the Knockmore Limestone Member. A sink hole cuts through a peat-covered limestone platform. A series of chert floors, previously blocking access, have been broken up to give entry to a north-west trending rift which can be descended by climbing down about 10m. At this point the system enters the Knockmore Limestone and immediately the cave develops vertically. A short crawl leads to the head of a 22m vertical pitch with a further crawl at its base leading to a completely flooded section (a sump). Above the sump is a chamber with a high roof (an aven). Historically, the sump was dived to a depth of 8m before visibility was lost; it is now completely blocked by silt.
