Summary of site:

Dickson’s Island was formerly the site of a small lead/zinc mine, exploiting a hydrothermal vein. Hydrothermal minerals are precipitated from hot brine solutions travelling through voids in rocks such as narrow fractures and faults. The ore minerals in this case were galena (a lead sulphide) and sphalerite (a zinc sulphide). Now only spoil heaps and shafts to the workings remain.
