Vagrant. The only Irish record involved a female found dead in Cork City in October 1988 coincident with a fall of Saharan dust. The Southern Hawker is found in small pools and lakes including garden ponds. It is found throughout England and Wales and in a few localities in the north and west Scotland. In Britain it flies from early July to early October.
