The Environment and Heritage Service’s "It’s in our Nature" campaign has joined forces with National Museums Northern Ireland and the RSPB to call for help in recording what is for many the distinctive sound of Spring – the call of the cuckoo.

There are now 460 cuckoo records on the Recorder database at CEDaR. A total of 194 of these were collected during 2007 field season. Incredibly, in just one recording season, your efforts nearly double the cuckoo data set. During 2007, records were collated by 123 individuals and these were sightings etc. from 175 geographically distinct locations.
We encourage interested individuals to contact Mrs Marianne McKeown, Sciences Division, National Museums Northern Ireland () to obtain recording card(s); thus facilitating the further collation of records during this current year.
Your continued assistance is essential if we are to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the status and distribution of the cuckoo within Northern Ireland.
The recording card as seen below can be downloaded as a PDF by clicking here (1MB)
