The first in a series of publications from CEDaR (Centre for Environmental Data and Recording), the Atlas gives a comprehensive account of the status and distribution of ground beetle species within Northern Ireland. Topics range from an exploration of ground conditions and soil types, to summaries of ground beetle distribution, ecology and biogeography. Whilst maps are reserved for the northern Irish species, detailed accounts of distribution and ecology are given for the whole Irish fauna. Potential threats to conservation and the work of the Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESA) Schemes are among other topics discussed.
