Please consider becoming a member of the Observatory. Your annual subscription will help us to continue monitoring and recording the birds breeding on and migrating through the Copelands. The sometimes severe weather conditions which hit the Island in winter cause extra wear and tear on our buildings and Heligoland traps which therefore need regular repair and maintenance. Despite this, we have managed to steadily improve the standard of accommodation over the years.
The current cost of membership is just £20 for an adult and £3 per person for each additional family member. Members pay reduced fees for staying on the Island and receive a free copy of our Annual Report. Anyone who makes more than one visit to the Observatory each year will save money by joining.
As well as the opportunity to visit and stay on the Island, we organise regular winter meetings for members usually including talks and slides about birds and other activities associated with the Observatory.

All annual membership categories receive a free copy of the Annual Report, at least two newsletters each year and can register to receive the CBO e-news. Short stay and Day members become members for the duration of their stay and are welcome to register for the CBO e-news.
Islander member - free overnight trips after the 4th overnight visit as an upgrade from annual membership - expires on 31st December each year
