Family Day to Slievenacloy, Belfast Hills, Co.Antrim

Meet 2.00pm at the main car park of Slievenacloy Nature Reserve (NGR J 255 715). Slievenacloy is located in the Belfast Hills, west of Belfast, and is accessed via the Flowbog Road.
From Belfast, take the Colin Glen Road (A501 to Glenavy). On the right side of the road, just past Groganstown, is the Colin Glen Filling Station. Turn right just before this onto the Ballycolin Road. The entrance to the reserve is on the left, after about a mile.
From Lisburn, take the airport road (B101). At the junction with the Colin Glen Road (A501), turn right. After 2 miles, turn left at the Colin Glen Filling Station, onto Ballycolin Road. The entrance to the reserve is on the left, after about a mile.
Parking is limited. Toilets are available on site.
This will be a family fun day out, looking at the botany, zoology, geography and industrial archaeology of Slievenacloy Nature Reserve. Rebecca Craig, Pamela Thomlinson and UWT staff will provide a variety of activities, including mini-beast hunts, wildflower and tree identification and a look back in time to the beginnings of Belfast. Particularly suitable for children - young and old!
Bring your children/nieces/nephews/grandchildren. Most walking will be on paths, but waterproof footwear is advisable.
