Rocky Shore Ramble - Kircubbin, Co.Down (Zoology)
With Claire Guy
Meet 7.00pm at the main car park in Kircubbin, opposite the Doctor's Surgery. Toilets are available for a small fee at the car park.
We will look at the low tide marine natural history of Kircubbin. Claire Guy is currently researching the impact of the non-native Pacific Oyster on marine life in Strangford Lough, our only Marine Nature Reserve in Northern Ireland. She will shed light on some of the more unusual residents of the lough.
As we aim to explore the rocks and mud flats of Kircubbin foreshore, it will be rough underfoot. Waterproof footwear and a steady footing will be essential - a walking pole is recommended.
